Von Puerto Rico nach St Thomas

Als wir aus der Marina del Rey rausfuhren, blies uns gleich kräftiger Ostwind auf die Nase, also Segel raus, hart am Wind konnten wir Palominos zum Übernachten erreichen. Am nächsten Tag war der Wind schwächer und hat nach Süd gedreht, so segelten wir die Cordilliera entlang, ein Streifen von Felsen und Inseln von Puerto Rico bis Culebra. Kurz vor Einbruch der Dunkelheit erreichten wir Culebra, von wo wir zwei Tage später weiter nach St Thomas segelten. Der Wind wehte aus Nordost,wieder einmal hart am Wind, der dazu noch auf 25 Knoten auffrischte. Aber wir sind schon mit dem ersten Reff im Groß losgesegelt, später haben wir auch noch die Genua verkleinert und zu Mittag liefen wir in die Flamingo Bay auf Water Island südlich der Hauptstadt, Charlotte Amalie, von St Thomas ein. Und siehe da, gleich beim ersten Versuch erwischten wir freies Internet. Samstag und Sonntag erkundeten wir Water Island, das früher militärisches Sperrgebiet war, jetzt aber von amerikanischen Rentnern bevölkert wird. Der Platz war landschaftlich nicht besonders attraktiv, aber das Wasser war sauber und am Ufer gibt es eine Menge zu entdecken. Wir haben wieder zahlreiche Fotos geschossen, von denen einige in den neuen Galerien zu finden sind. Eine wird nur dem herpetologischen Entdeckungen gewidmet.
