Von Antigua nach St. Barths
7 März, 2010 | Kategorie: Segeln 2009 | 27 KommentareVor einer Woche sind wir von Antigua weiter nach Barbuda gesegelt. Barbuda liegt ja etwas abseits und so segeln nur wenige Boote dorthin. Nachdem wir in St John‘s vergessen hatten unser Cruising Permit für Antigua Und Barbuda zu verlängern, mussten wir in die Hauptstadt Codrington, um sie zu verlängern. Danach waren wir noch an der Nordküste, wo kilometerlange einsame Sandstrände liegen. Mit dem Schlauchboot haben wir die Gegend erkundet bevor wir Freitag in der Früh eine Stunde vor Sonnenaufgang nach St. Barths weitergesegelt sind. Gleich am Vormittag hat ein Thunfisch angebissen, aber leider kurz bevor wir ihn im Boot hatten konnte er sich losreißen. Leider kein Fisch heute zum Abendessen!
Nach St. Barths sind es von Barbuda ungefähr 60 Seemeilen. Anfangs ging es auch nur so dahin, unser GPS zeigt uns eine Ankunftszeit zwischen 17:00 und 18:00 an. Mittags refften wir sogar die Genua etwas ein weil der Wind in Böen über 20 Knoten hatte. Doch eine halbe Stunde später war das vorbei und wir refften wieder aus. Langsam lies der Wind nach, die Ankunftszeit am GPS schob sich immer weiter in die Nacht hinein. Um 14:00 rollten wir die Genua ein und setzten unseren Parasail, und sogleich hatten wir wieder eine Ankunftszeit um die 18:00. Doch der Wind lies immer mehr nach, um 16:00, bargen wir den Parasail, rollten wieder die Genua aus und motorsegelten die letzten 12 Meilen nach St. Barths. Der Wind schwächte immer weiter ab und dreht auf Südwest, eine Windrichtung die in der Karibik fast nie vorkommt. Kurz bevor die Sonne unterging erreichten wir endlich St. Barths. Der Hauptort Gustavia wo wir ursprünglich ankern wollten, liegt an der Südwestseite, normalerweise gut geschützt gegen die vorherrschenden Passatwinde. Doch jetzt? Schließlich entschieden wir uns an der Nordküste in der Baie de St. Jean zu übernachten. Nur eine Motoryacht lag schon vor uns in der Bucht.
Nach einer ruhigen Nacht setzten wir heute Vormittag die Genua segelten die zwei Meilen bis zum Pte. de Columbier an der Nordwestspitze, von dort motorten wir gegen den immer stärker werdenden Südwind nach Gustavia. Rund um uns Dutzende Yachten aller Größen und Stilrichtungen. Doch alle hatten etwas gemeinsam. Sie schaukelten heftig im auflandigen Südwind vor sich hin. Vergeblich suchten wir einen ruhigen Ankerplatz. Schließlich fuhr vor uns eine deutsche Ketch weg und wir gewannen den Wettlauf um den frei werdenden Ankerplatz um 50 Meter. Sofort schaukelten wir mit den anderen Booten um die Wette. Doch wir bliesen das Dingi auf, montierten den Motor und ließen das Geschaukel hinter uns. Nach dem Einklarieren, kauften wir noch schnell ein paar Lebensmittel für die nächsten Tage und kehrten zum Boot zurück. Als wir wieder in der Baie de St. Jean ankamen lagen bereits einige andere Yachten hier vor Anker, doch wir fanden noch ein geschütztes Plätzchen auf der Westseite der Bucht.
