5 Mai, 2010 | Kategorie: Segeln 2009 | 845 KommentareVom Hurricane Hole sind wir weiter in die Little Lameshurbay gesegelt, dort beginnt ein Trail zu den Petroglyphen,das sind eingrafierte Felsbilder der Ureinwohner.
.Knapp zwei Meilen lang, doch zuerst geht es zu einem Sattel hinauf und von dort ins nächste Tal hinunter, die Petroglyphen liegen am gegenüberliegenden Hang, bei einigen kleinen Wasserpools im Felsen. Sie sind ungefähr 3000 Jahre alt und stammen von den Taino Indianern. Wir waren vom Wort Pool magisch angezogen, hatten unsere Badesachen mit, doch in den flachen Felswannen, die voller Laub und Schlick waren, wäre das Baden sicher nicht sehr angenehm gewesen. Die Petroglyphen waren deutlich zu sehen, wir haben uns dann auf den Rückweg gemacht, wobei wir uns noch eine Ruine einer alten Plantage angesehen haben, die hoch über dem Tal lag. Hineingegangen sind wir nicht, es war alles voller Fledermausscheiße, dementsprechend hat es auch gerochen. Der Rückweg über bekanntes Terrein war vor allem eines: “Schweisstreibend“. Die Sonne steht zu Mittag beinahe senkrecht über uns, fast kein Schatten, obwohl links und rechts Bäume stehen. Wieder am Schiff zurück setzten wir die Segel und fuhren die Südküste entlang weiter nach Westen, Leider waren alle folgenden Buchten keine idealen Ankerplätze so segelten wir noch bis Great James Island, wo wir über das Wochenende blieben. Am Montag Morgen segelten wir nach Charlotte Amalie, brachten unsere Wäsche in die Reinigung, und kauften Vorräte im Pueblo Supermarkt ein. Dienstag war die Wäsche fertig und wir machten uns auf den Weg zurück nach Osten in die Benner Bay, wo wir heute unseren bestellten Autopiloten abholen wollten. Doch leider er ist nicht da, er ist in St Martin abgeschickt worden, beim Zoll angekommen und dann verschollen. Vielleicht ist er auf dem LKW der heute liefern kommt, na wir wollen es hoffen, den wir wollen uns mit Eva und Josef von der Sanuk II treffen, die wir das letzte Mal auf den Kap Verden gesehen haben.
