Wieder in St.John’s

Gestern sind wir von Great Bird Island wieder nach St John gesegelt, zumindest die Hälfte der Strecke, dann war der Wind aus. Es waren schöne zwei Wochen an der Nordostküste von Antigua. Wir haben ein paar Mal den Ankerplatz gewechselt, Muscheln an diversen Stränden gesammelt und waren oft tauchen. Auf Great Bird Island haben wir zwei Stunden bevor wir abgesegelt sind doch noch eine der seltensten Schlangen der Welt gesehen. Westküste – Parham Sound

Nachdem wir in St John einkaufen waren setzten wir noch am gleichen Tag die Segel. Wir fuhren weiter zur Nordküste, wo es dann zwei Meilen gegenan unter Motor ging bevor wir den Parham Sound erreichten. Hier im Nordosten von Antigua gibt es einige kleine Inseln, die nach Norden und Osten durch ein weitläufiges Riff geschützt sind. Antigua

Am 31.Jänner, nachmittags um halb Drei, brachen wir von Guadeloupe nach Antigua auf. Wir wollten eigentlich erst am nächsten Morgen fahren, aber der Passat hatte gerade eine südliche Komponente und wer weiß wie am nächsten Tag der Wind weht.
38 Meilen lagen vor uns bis zum Sonnenuntergang hatten wir bereits die Hälfte hinter uns, der Halbwindkurs bescherte uns um die fünf Knoten Geschwindigkeit. Um zehn Uhr am Abend erreichten wir die Einfahrt nach English Harbour. Überall ankernde Schiffe, erst ganz hinten wo es nur mehr zwei Meter tief war konnten wir unseren Anker auf einen freien Platz werfen. Dafür lagen wir hier völlig ruhig. Regenzeit

Nachdem wir von Marie Galante nach Guadeloupe gesegelt waren, haben wir die Nacht auf dem Ankerplatz im Lee von der Ìlet de Gosier verbracht. Gleich in der Früh segelten wir die zwei Meilen bis Point-á-Pitre weite. Diesmal blieben wir jedoch am Ankerplatz und legten nicht in der Marina an. Die zwei Meilen schafften wir aber nicht ohne ins Regenzeug zu schlüpfen. Der Ankerplatz liegt nur zweihundert Meter von der Einfahrt zur Marina entfernt, nur ein paar Minuten mit dem Dingi. Wir schlenderten ein wenig herum, fanden gleich ein Internetcafè wo ich die letzen Berichte hochlud. Zwei Stunden später kauften wir noch im Supermarkt ein, am Rückweg zum Dingi kam bereits der nächste Regenschauer. Zurück am Boot kam wieder die Sonne heraus. Continue reading Regenzeit…

Von Petit Terre sind wir nach Maria Galante gesegelt, erstmals ein Kurs mit südlicher Komponente seit wir in der Karibik sind und was macht der Wind? Dreht auf Südost. Also segeln wir wieder mal am Wind. Allerdings bläst er so leicht, dass wir nicht wie sonst durchgebeutelt werden. Um 14 h runden wir Pte. du Vieux Fort und sehen einen schönen Sandstrand hinter dem Kap. Zwei Segelschiffe ankern bereits hier. Wir lassen unseren Anker in das türkisblaue Wasser fallen. Petit Terre

Von der Marina Bas du Fort sind wir in sechs Stunden nach Petit Terre gefahren. Petit Terre liegt ca sechs Meilen vor der Ostspitze von Guadeloupe. Es besteht aus zwei Inseln zwischen denen eine Lagune liegt, die von einem Riff gegen die Wellen des Atlantiks abgeschirmt wird. Das ganze Gebiet ist ein Naturpark, ankern ist verboten. Dafür liegen Bojen in der Lagune an denen man festmachen kann. Weil die Einfahrt nur um die zwei Meter tief ist, wird die Inselgruppe nur von Booten mit wenig Tiefgang angelaufen.
